New class dates announced ... and we're coming to Castle Douglas too!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're all keeping well.

I am pleased to announce that following the success of the Create & Take classes at the Georgetown Community Centre in Dumfries, I have arranged further dates to take us through to the end of this year (for now!).

I am also pleased to tell you that I've arranged classes at Gordon Memorial Hall in Castle Douglas.  All the details for both venues are on the Stampin' Up! Create & Take Classes page.

Please contact me if you, or anyone you know, would be interested in joining us for a fun-filled Saturday!  Let's face it, it beats housework any day, right?

I have another two commissioned canvases to complete over the next couple of weeks, and lots of items to make for The Artisans Markets which will take place on a monthly basis across Dumfries & Galloway.  Please see the About Me page for further details of this exciting new venture.  I hope you are able to join us at the markets.  It's been very exciting arranging the venues and the fabulous stall holders for your enjoyment!

My recent newborn canvas is here, this time for a little girl.  The image is by Sylvia Zet at Wee Stamps.  Please contact me if you are interested in having one commissioned for a newborn, wedding, special occasion or birthday.  They are unique and bespoke, and at £12 plus p&p for a 8" x 8", and £15 plus p&p for a 10" x 10", affordable too!

That's all for now, back to my craft space! xx

Personalised canvases made to order

Hi folks, hope you're all keeping warm and cosy in this changeable weather. Roll on Spring/Summer that's all I can say - hope we have some decent warm days this year!

I've recently been making some newborn canvases to order, which I have really enjoyed. I've added some pics here for you to see. They can be personalised to welcome the new addition to the family, making an ideal gift for the new parents!

I'm also making 'themed' canvases, like the 'sewing lady' one shown below, again to order for that unique and personalised gift.

The canvases are between £15 and £20 excl p&p.  Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing one.

My Stampin' Up! Create & Take craft classes are going well, and there is still room for a couple more if you'd like to join us. You don't need to come every month, just when you are able, although booking is essential so that I can prepare enough kits for everyone. Please remember, you don't need to be experts, the whole point of the classes is that you get to meet lovely people, have a good chat and go home with something beautiful that you have made! Have a look under the Stampin' Up! Craft Classes tab for further details.

That's all for now, have a good week everyone!

Helen x

It's been a while ...

Oh my, I have been a bad blogger.  No, make that a MIA blogger!  There have been some major changes at Handmade at Helen's, and the biggest one is that I am no longer in the gallery area of Zitan as the shop was not financially viable. Instead, I have decided to concentrate on different ways of selling including house parties and craft fairs so watch this space as I will be posting details here.

If you are interested in hosting a house party and you live in Dumfries & Galloway or Cumbria, then please let me know at handmadeathelens@btinternet.com.  I will be selling jewellery, handmade bags, soaps, candles, altered items, papercrafts, crocheted items etc.  Hostesses will receive a 10% discount for up to 10 guests, and 15% for more than 10 guests.

I am also an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator and hold Create and Take craft classes at Georgetown Community Centre in Dumfries, and at Houghton Garden Centre in Carlisle.  During the class, you'll make a minimum of 2 or 3 items, including at least one 3D project to take home with you.  I'll show you how to make simple yet beautiful projects, and you can browse through the latest Stampin’ Up! Catalogue and have a look at my samples and ideas.  Booking is essential so please call me on 07546 449464 if you are interested in coming along and having some fun!

A link to the Stampin' Up! catalogues can be found over to the right, just click on the book.  Hard copies of the catalogues are also available, please contact me if you would like a copy.  I can also order any Stampin' Up! products for you.

Until next time,
Stay safe x

Welcome to Handmade at Helen's!

Hello and a very warm welcome to you!  This blog will follow my journey as I set up my new business in the gallery area of  Zitan, a Chinese Antiques and Furniture shop in an old Presbyterian church in the small town of Thornhill, in Dumfries & Galloway.  Click here to see the fabulous items for sale at Zitan.  I love everything oriental, and so it's a real pleasure being surrounded by such interesting and unique pieces.

Handmade at Helen's is about all things handmade.  We will be selling beautiful and unique handmade gifts including Cornish glass, jewellery, shabby chic items, tote bags, and greetings cards, and this range will broaden as the business develops.

We will also be running craft classes for experienced and new crafters, so if you are interested in joining in please email me at craftyhelen@btinternet.com.  The classes will include papercrafting (cardmaking, scrapbooking, mini albums, altered art) and jewellery making,  Different classes can be added over time ... I am open to suggestions!

So, without further ado, I expect you want to see some pictures?  OK, here goes, you may like to grab a cuppa at this point as there are quite a few to get through ...

First up, my logo and business card designed by the fabulous Kirsty Wiseman.  This girl is amazing, I mean you give her a smidgen of an idea and colour preference, and she comes up with the most fantastic results!  Seriously, if you need a blog makeover, business card design or new logo, go and check out her website, you will not be disappointed (she's extremely reasonably priced, too).

The Create & Take area ...

Okay, hopefully that has given you a bit of an insight as to what I've been up to over the past few weeks!!  Thanks for popping by and hope to see you again soon.

NB: I have made the decision to stop updating my 'Carry on Crafting' blog, as realistically I can't keep up with three blogs at once!  Thank you for all your past support and encouragement and I hope you will join me here at Handmade at Helen's.

My 'Bees Knees Crafty Creations' blog will continue to be solely for Stampin' Up! news, offers, techniques and inspiration so please get in touch and let me know if you would like to purchase any products or want to know anything about Stampin' Up! in general.  There are also links to the current catalogues there.
